Airline price competition leaving service grounded

Airline industry experts say carriers could make vast improvements in service with just modest increases in their lower-end airfares. But the discouraging news, many analysts say, is that major air carriers such as American, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, seem reluctant to bump up those lower-end fares because they’re overly concerned customers will stampede to discount carriers.
