Governor, lawmakers agree to help homeowners at risk of foreclosure

ALBANY - New Yorkers who risk losing their homes will receive more protections against foreclosure, and brokers who make subprime loans to people who can’t afford them could face criminal penalties, according to an agreement reached yesterday by Gov. David Paterson and lawmakers.
